The Baltic Region

SEK has been active in the Baltic region since the early 1990s, by mainly providing a large number of different types of long-term financing solutions. Given Sweden's fast growing trade with the Baltic countries, Poland and Russia, this is a commitment which SEK will be developing further.

Improved opportunities for Swedish companies

The mission of the Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) is to secure access to financial solutions on a commercial basis for the Swedish export economy. SEK aims to continue its contribution to the economic development of the Baltic region. The focus of SEK´s mission is on financing projects  that are designed  to improve energy supply, to reduce negative environmental impact and on other prioritized sectors.

This work will be carried out in close cooperation with Swedish companies and create better opportunities for them to participate in the economic development of the region and to strengthen the presence  in this dynamic growth region.

Cooperation at several levels

SEK's Baltic cooperation, in which different cooperating groups participate at both national and regional levels also allows participation  in various  cross-border projects and advisory assignments within prioritized sectors.
EU enlargement and the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region adopted by the European Council in 2009 create new business opportunities.

Within the framework of these activities there are also offshoots to EU enlargement and the business opportunities this can provide for SEK. EU funds, bilateral Swedish support contributions and pure business interests are tightly interwoven when it comes to promoting commercial contacts with countries in the region.
