SEK meets the needs of the export industry with increased capacity -- the volume of new customer financing increased by 63 percent during the first four month-period of 2009

SEK's role as a financial partner to the Swedish export industry has become increasingly important. The volume of new customer financing increased by 63 percent to Skr 34.1 billion during the first four months of 2009 compared with the same period the previous year. The volume of outstanding offers for new credits also substantially increased. This proves that the strengthening of SEK's lending capacity, decided by the Swedish Parliament and Government, is showing results.

The demand for financing from the Swedish export industry is very substantial and SEK is one of only a few institutions that are able to offer long-term financing despite the current financial crisis. The Swedish Parliament and the Government strengthened SEK's lending capacity at the end of 2008. Therefore, SEK is now able to offer more extensive financial solutions than before to Swedish companies and thereby contributing to improving the international competitiveness of the Swedish industry.

During the first four months of 2009 the volume of new customer financing amounted to Skr 34.1 billion, an increase by approximately 63 percent compared with the same period the previous year.

 -  SEK's role becomes increasingly important and we are now concentrating all our efforts by focusing completely on assisting the Swedish export industry with long-term financing. Without access to financing, important export deals risk not to be completed, says Peter Yngwe, President of SEK.

The volume of outstanding offers for new credits has also substantially increased and, as of April 30, 2009, amounted to Skr 44.5 billion, an increase of Skr 25.7 billion compared with the same period the previous year. Furthermore, applications for offers for financing amounted approximately to an additional Skr 60 billion.
