“We have a good relationship with our bank, but the risks led the bank to decline the loan. The new business opportunity came with significant production costs and required capital expenditure. Then by chance, I happened to get wind of SEK’s loan. I contacted them immediately and was quickly given a thumbs-up on a loan. This allowed us to dare to accept the order,” says Jesper Andersson, CEO of J2 Sourcing.

Requirements can vary. Companies may require capital for capital goods or wish to make new investments or establish operations in new markets. Foreign buyers can sometimes require longer credit periods which can be strenuous for cash flow.

“Our competitors are often large companies with entirely different financial capabilities to us. We can now offer the same payment terms as they can, making us more competitive.”

Companies wishing to expand have large capital requirements. Even with positive earnings, many companies are declined by their bank if they lack adequate collateral.

The Malmö-based company J2 Sourcing, which distributes electronic components, took the opportunity to take advantage of SEK’s Working captial for SME. The loan is aimed at exporters and their suppliers who have a turnover of at least Skr 200 million. A requirement for being able to borrow is that the companies have been profitable in each of the past three years.
