Contract guarantees

Export transactions often entail foreign buyers demanding guarantees, such as for advance payment and performance bonds, before entering into an agreement.

SEK-blå bakgrund.

The guarantee is issued by a third party, such as SEK, and ensures that the buyer is compensated if the exporter fails to meet its obligations. As the guarantee involves SEK assuming risk on behalf of the exporter, a standard credit assessment is always conducted.

Foreign buyers of Swedish goods and services may sometimes require very high creditworthiness from the guarantee provider. In certain cases, the guarantee exposure may be so substantial that a bank cannot assume the entire risk alone. In such situations, we are willing to share the risk with the bank, enabling you to complete a successful export transaction.

SEK’s credit rating is AA+/Stable from Standard & Poor’s and Aa1/Stable from Moody’s – one notch below the highest rating of each respective credit rating agency.

We prefer that the guarantee is linked to a transaction in which we are already involved, such as an export credit or project financing. This allows us to tailor the guarantee to the specific needs of the transaction.
