Project financing
SEK supports projects where Swedish exporting companies act as subcontractors, suppliers, or sponsors, providing senior loans, leasing, renting, or participation in bonds.
Project financing is a way to fund large projects where the project itself – rather than the company behind it, the so-called sponsor – is the focus. This method is often used for infrastructure, real estate, energy, and other capital-intensive ventures. Financing is arranged off the company’s balance sheet, meaning the project primarily bears the risk if it fails.
Project financing is an alternative to other forms of export financing and is often an important instrument when selling projects with Swedish export content.
SEK can participate in a financing structure where the project itself is the only asset, or in project financings in combination with export credit agencies. We provide long-term commitments through extended tenors and aim to remain involved in projects throughout their full duration.
SEK’s access to capital is based on our AA+ credit rating, our active capital markets team, our solid credit portfolio, and state ownership. Together, these factors allow us to be a strong partner for Swedish industry in financing matters
