New members appointed to SEK’s and EKN’s Scientific Climate Council

SEK and EKN have appointed two new members to their Scientific Climate Council. They are Linda Styhre, researcher at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and André Månberger, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental and Energy Systems, Lund University. The new members will assume their positions in February 2026.

Linda Styhre conducts research on sustainable transport and renewable fuels for shipping, while André Månberger researches critical minerals and the mining industry. Måns Nilsson, Executive Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), who has been a member since the Scientific Climate Council was established in 2021, will continue as a member.

“We are very pleased that Linda Styhre and André Månberger have accepted the roles as members of SEK’s and EKN’s Scientific Climate Council. Their complementary areas of expertise will strengthen our analytical and advisory capacity as we further broaden the focus of our Scientific Climate Council,” says Maria Simonson, Head of Customer Relations and Sustainability at SEK.

“The purpose of the Scientific Climate Council is to strengthen our work in supporting Swedish exporting companies and their customers in their climate transition. Therefore, it is valuable that Linda Styhre and André Månberger bring experience from industries that are important to Swedish exports,” says Karin Wessman, Head of Sustainability and Country Analysis at EKN.

SEK and EKN would like to thank the outgoing members Anna Krook-Riekkola, Professor of Energy Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, Max Åhman, Professor of Environmental and Energy Systems Studies at Lund University, and Tomas Kåberger, Professor of Industrial Energy Policy at Chalmers University of Technology, for their contributions to the Scientific Climate Council during the years 2021–2025.

“During their four years on the Scientific Climate Council, Anna Krook-Riekkola, Max Åhman, and Tomas Kåberger have contributed valuable perspectives and in-depth knowledge. SEK and EKN have seen great value in drawing on their expertise, not least with regard to technological development and systems thinking related to the energy transition,” says Maria Simonson.
