The shipping industry is facing major investments

Transition financing is aimed at shipping companies that are facing major investments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Swedish and foreign shipowners who are investing in ships powered by, for example, liquefied natural gas (LNG), rotor sails, methanol or batteries qualify for transition financing. Financing also encompasses supporting infrastructure for shipping such as natural gas or biogas storage, freight flow optimization, shipping lane development or digitalized port traffic management.

Sweden has the longest coastline in the EU and is one of the world’s most foreign trade dependent countries. Almost 90 percent of Sweden’s exports and imports are transported by sea.
