Exports to international infrastructure projects

Each year, hundreds of Swedish companies export innovative, high-quality goods and services to major infrastructure projects across the world that SEK finances. This benefits Swedish exports as well as destination countries and the climate since we set stringent requirements for sustainability.

Sweden has many innovative and world leading companies who are able to participate in major infrastructure projects abroad. At the same time, Sweden is lacking in players (known as EPCs – Engineering, Procurement and Construction) that can work together and run these infrastructure projects.

As a result, Sweden has many export promotion agencies that facilitate exports for Swedish companies, including Business Sweden, the Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) who provide finance and the Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) who guarantee. The ambition is to build sustainable infrastructure with Swedish innovation, products and services.

The participation of Swedish suppliers is a prerequisite for SEK and EKN to be able to finance and guarantee infrastructure projects abroad. These can, for example, be export goods and skills linked with railway projects, solar and wind farms or hospitals.

If your company has documented experience of exports and wants to deliver goods or services to major international construction projects within the sectors below, feel free to contact us.

  • Energy (such as transmission, distribution, power generation, solar, wind and hydro)
  • Infrastructure (such as Bus Rapid Transit, trucks, railway, harbors and airports)
  • Construction (such as hospitals, agriculture, roads, bridges and water)

Information can be found on the EPC Alliance by Sweden page about EPC-led infrastructure projects.
